Scientists Announces The Discovery Of 100years Old Prediction
A theory which was stated by Albert Eistein about gravitational waves, A once great physicist over a 100 years ago has being unveiled by a team of scientist called LIGO (Laser Interferometer Gravitational wave Observatory)who confirmed the detection of gravitational waves, ripples in space time. The phenomenon that was detected was the collision of two black holes in space.
The Physicists were able to trace the signal of gravitational waves with their sophisticated instrument back to the merging of two black holes of about 1.3 billion years ago.
" I think this will be one of the major breakthrough in Physics for a long time" said Szabolo Marka, a Columbia University Professor who is one of the LIGO Scientists.
This was also a triumph for 3 Physicists; which included Kip Thorne of California Institute of Technology, Rainer Weiss of Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Ronald Drever of Caltech but now retired in Scotland as the 3 of them bet their careers to measure Einstein's most difficult notions.
"We have detected gravitational waves. We did it", said David Reitze, Executive director of the LIGO team.
I think this deserves a noble price, well done team LIGO, you guys have made a big hit in history! !
